Gun Locks are designed to prevent unauthorized access or use to your gun collection by preventing the gun to be loaded and chambered. There are many forms of gun locks, such as trigger locks, cable locks, and Magwell locks. Each gun lock is slightly different but accomplishes the same thing; safe storage of your gun collection. All of our Lockdown gun locks are approved by the California Department of Justice, which means it’s incredibly difficult to defeat our products without destroying the gun. At Lockdown, you’ll be given the peace of mind that your guns are safe when you use our products.
Why Keeping Your Guns Safe Is Important
Ironically the most important part about owning a gun is the most tedious and boring part of ownership. Keeping your guns safe is not nearly as fun as shooting them, but it’s required by law. The good news for you, Lockdown has already read the regulations and laws from the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). All of our products are approved by the federal government because we believe there is no point in doing something if it’s not done right.
What qualifies as a Secure Gun Storage or Safety Device?
According to the ATF, there are 3 qualifications that must be met for your gun storage device to be approved by the federal government. As we created our product line, we wanted to ensure our customers that the official guidelines of our national government would be the driving force. Our commitment to the law only reinforces the fact that your gun isn’t secure unless it’s on Lockdown. Here are the three qualifications and how Lockdown incorporates them into our products.
A device that, when installed on a firearm, is designed to prevent the firearm from being operated without first deactivating the device.
Lockdown’s Answer: All of our gun locks inhibit the access or function of the firing mechanisms to ensure your firearm is safe.A device incorporated into the design of the firearm that is designed to prevent the operation of the firearm by anyone not having access to the device.
Lockdown’s Answer: Our Mag Well lock and Trigger Lock incorporate themselves into the design of the firearm to inhibit movement.A safe, gun safe, gun case, lockbox, or other devices that are designed to be or can be used to store a firearm and that is designed to be unlocked only by means of a key, a combination, or other similar means.
Lockdown’s Answer: Our Gun Safes, combination locks, and keyed trigger lock all meet these requirements by the ATF. Stop messing around with companies trying to get one over on you and secure your lifestyle with Lockdown. As a reminder, ATF regulations prevent guns from being secured with zip ties, rope, or string.Gun Lock vs Gun Safe
One of the main questions you need to ask yourself is, “What’s going to fit my lifestyle the best, a gun lock or gun safe?” Personally, I live in a 1,400 square foot condo and I don’t have room for too many more storage containers. For this reason, I use our Lockdown gun locks, such as the cable lock, and Mag Well lock. These security dices are not only approved by the California Department of Justice, but they’re also approved by the ATF. If you’re in the same situation as me and have limited storage space, our gun locks are going to be the best option for you.
Lockdown Trigger Lock
The Lockdown Trigger-Lock comes in either a combination or a Keyed version for your personal preference. I know, I’d much rather have a key than worry about another password to remember, but I also don’t have a lot of keys. Our trigger locks secure the trigger well of your gun with a heavy-duty bolt. This bolt fits in-between rubber pads to protect your gun from any scratches or marring.
Why Should I Buy the Lockdown Trigger Lock?
The Lockdown trigger Lock is easy to secure, made of the highest quality steel, and is the most affordable government-approved device on the market. The only way to remove this trigger lock is either the combination or the key that comes with it. If anyone tries to remove the trigger lock, it will destroy the trigger well, rendering the gun useless.
Lockdown Cable Lock
The Lockdown Cable Lock is a great alternative to protecting your guns without using any extra space. Our cable lock is made from the same steel-coated glass-reinforced nylon cable in our Mag Well Lock. Using this cable lock will ensure your gun can’t be accessed without compromising the integrity of the gun. I use this cable lock as an added security feature alongside my trigger lock.
Why Should I Buy The Lockdown Cable Lock?
Our Cable Lock gives gun owners more versatility in how they secure their firearms. Our cable lock fits any style of firearm, whether it's a concealed carry pistol, shotgun, AR-15, or hunting rifle. It works great as an added level of security with the trigger lock because you’d have 2 independent security measures in place. It might seem like overkill, but it’s great for gun owners with children running around the house.
Lockdown Handgun Vault
If you’re looking for something more concealable than a trigger lock and cable lock, our handgun vaults are incredibly convenient. Owning a gun shouldn’t deter you from traveling and enjoying your life. Lockdown Handgun Vaults were built to meet the standards of travel by the Travel Security Administration (TSA). This means, once you Lockdown your gun in our vaults, you can travel anywhere in the United States and meet the requirements set by the federal government. We secured this handgun vault with 19-Gauge Steel walls with an additional 16-Gauge side and bottom reinforcement plate. You’ll even get our steel-coated glass-reinforced cable lock to secure it to the frame of your vehicle.
In Plain Sight Shelf - Concealed Safe
The ability to hide your guns in plain sight in your living room, dining room, or kitchen can be a great asset to your family. Controlled by a magnetic latch, the shelf will unlock by placing a magnet over a specific spot. Then the shelf will open by pushing up engaging the hydraulics to lower the shelf. To close the shelf you simply push up to lock it into place. The Lockdown Puck will monitor the shelf if you place a Puck inside the hidden drawer. Although the Puck doesn’t control the In-Plain-Sight-Shelf, it monitors the conditions and ensures no one can open it without you being alerted, immediately.
What Does The ATF Recommend for proper Storage and Security?
There is no higher authority in the United States than the ATF when it comes to guns and explosives. The ATF guidelines for gun storage and security are great to know because many of us don’t know as much as they do about gun security. This list and much more information can be found on the ATF website.
ATF Storage and Security Tips
- Conduct an inventory of your gun collection at least once a month (ATF says once a year). I prefer once a month to check up on everything for my own peace of mind.
- Install a physical security alarm in your home or at least your gun room. The Lockdown Puck™ will cross this guideline off your list.
- You’re required by law to report any missing or stolen gun within 48 hours of discovery.
- Ensure your storage container is approved by the government to ensure your gun is safe (all Lockdown security devices are approved by the CDOJ and TSA approved).
